NEST
Step-by-step instructions on how to properly use your device
Before you begin, it is important to note that we recommend that the setup be done prior to your
shoulder surgery to ensure you have both hands to allow for a much easier time.

We also advise that you sleep with your surgical arm closest to the middle of the bed. This will make it
easier to get in and out of the bed without getting blocked by the arm support.

NEST COMPONENTS:
Worm (x1)
Cape (x2)
Elbow support (x2)

PREPARATION
1. Start by separating the individual pieces of the NEST from each other.
2. Next, prepare your bed by removing pillows and turning down your comforter and sheets.

SET UP
3. Unfold and flatten the worm to make it one long tube. Please ensure the zipper is facing away
from you during this step.
4. With one hand holding about 1/3 of the way down, you want to flex the end of the worm up to
the sky. Repeat this for the other side, creating a horseshoe that will cradle your body. Rotate
the worm so the ends are facing the foot of the bed.

SECURING THE NEST
5. Gently slide one of the capes over the arm closest to the edge of the bed until it gets to the
middle of the arm. This will be used to tuck into the mattress and mattress support at the
head of the bed.
6. Bring the worm to the head of the bed and gently tuck the cape between the mattress and
mattress support.
7. Repeat this process with the second cape, but leave it on the arm of the worm that is closest to
the edge of the bed. Then you want to secure this between the mattress and the mattress support
on the side.
SET UP CONTINUED
8. Place your pillows back over the worm. We recommend the first going vertically and then the
second on top going horizontally. This will provide support for both your head and lower back.
Feel free to add as many or as few pillows to make yourself comfortable.

9. Take one elbow block, ensuring that the zipper is facing towards the head of the bed, and wrap
it around the arm of the worm closest to the inside of the bed, just in front of your pillow. This
will prevent your elbow from extending behind you while you sleep.
10. Finally, get into your NEST and bring the segment of the worm across your body to support the
surgical arm. When you are comfortable and secure, and if your surgical team allows, you can
unclip your sling and have your arm fully supported by the NEST.
11. If you find that you need more of the worm under your surgical arm, simply feed more of the
worm towards that side, giving you less of a worm under your non-surgical arm.

FEATURES
12. There is a pocket at the end of each arm of the worm for your convenience. You can use these
as handles to manipulate the worm, or simply give yourself easy access to your phone.
